Creating Christmas Traditions
With the anticipation of the holiday season just around the corner, here are some fun ideas for creating Christmas traditions for the entire family – whether you have just moved and want to start fresh, or are in your forever home and looking to change things up!
Gather the family (heck – even your friends) and throw a tree trimming party. Setting up the tree and taking the decorations out of storage in advance will make it easy to focus on what matters. Provide everyone with snacks and hot cocoa or apple cider, turn up some fun Christmas music and enjoy decking the halls!
Cookies for Everyone
Set aside a day or an entire weekend for some sweet Christmas baking. Cookies and bars make for delicious simple gifts from the heart. If you are feeling adventurous, try hosting a gingerbread house decorating contest.
Oh, and don’t forget those cookies for Santa! You wouldn’t want to end up on the naughty list...
Christmas Eve Movie and PJ Night
Let the kiddo’s open one gift Christmas eve wearing matching family pajamas! Not only will everyone look cute and ridiculous – perfect for some candid photos- it will be the perfect excuse to pop some corn and put on your favourite Christmas movie.
Reverse Advent CalendarIn the holiday spirit of giving, try incorporating a reverse advent calendar. Set up a box in the kitchen and every day of December, place a non-perishable item inside intended for your local food bank. This will teach your kids that not everyone is as fortunate this time of the year, and to give back where we can.
